I Have an Interview at the IMF
I have an interview at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in DC coming up. Albeit not for a finance position as it's for a staff assistant/admin/scheduler opening.
Does this sound like an excellent opportunity? I have a masters degree in international affairs from a target school.
Has anyone here ever interviewed at the IMF? If so want can I expect?
Thank you in advance!
Hi Londinium23, whoops, looks like nobody chimed in here.... maybe one of these discussions below is relevant:
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Looking at the job posting this seems to be a front desk assistant job. If this is correct, you should avoid it, there is no chance to move out of admin jobs. You are vastly overqualified with your credentials. Not sure what your experience is, but just by the target school you should be able to get better offers.
So they just offered me the job
Would it be worth doing for a couple of years before applying to B-School?
As I figure the connections and working for the institution alone would be a huge asset.
No.
Sorry to be harsh man but this is not a job someone with your qualifications should be taking. You won't make any connections or have B-school worthy experience as a front desk guy. That's like being a bank teller at Bank of America and equating it with working for BAML.
Not trying to be a downer but you should be looking for better roles coming from a target school. Take a good finance experience (even operations or something at a big bank) over a random job at a fancy name
