I screwed up...
I got a really good internship opportunity as my best friend's mother owns a firm in the financial district that does data analysis for a lot of hedge funds, banks, and PE firms. And while I am most likely transferring to a target school from cc next year, this is definitely a huge opportunity for me. Anyways, in my interview process with her I mentioned that I got an internship offer from the FR bank in NY and she asked if I had written proof of that so I sent her the email I received. But at the time that I got the email I was already employed at another company so I didn't thoroughly look into it. After I send it to her I reread the email carefully and come to find out it wasn't an offer but an email inviting me to an event to learn about how to apply because of my high GPA. I was supposed to start the internship today but she she frankly got pissed off at me and her colleagues don't really want me there because they think I'm a liar. However, because she loves me and we have a similar background she invited me to have a meeting with her to discuss "my integrity" and a "possible internship". So long story short, I may not get it anymore. I was thinking of taking 3 letters of recommendation with me from past employers and my economics professor. Is there anything else I can do to fix this fuck up?
Why not just tell her the truth?
I did and she knows that it was unintentional which is why I'm getting a meeting with her on Wednesday. But the thing is that I wouldn't be working with her as she's the founder and is too busy. I'd be working with her colleagues and they think I'm dishonest so they frankly don't really want me there and she doesn't want there to be problems.
You sound like you're retarded
Just be honest and tell her the truth. Hopefully she will give you a second chance. Btw, don't feel bad for messing this up, we all have reached that level of awkwardness sometime in our careers.
