I Switched Majors...

Hey guys,

I'm a 24 year old African American woman and I recently quit Nursing to go into Business. I want to become an Investment Banker and I am currently enrolled in an online bachelors degree program for Business Finance. I see a lot of people talking about target schools and non-target schools and it gets a bit discouraging. I come from a poor background and although our schools weren't the best, I managed to escape with half a brain. I've always been interested in Finance but never thought the degree would land me a good paying job. Nonetheless here I am hoping to get some advise from anyone currently or formerly in the field of Investment Banking. 

I want to know, if there was anything you could tell your younger self or anything you would have done in your early years to increase your chances of landing the job, what would it be? I'm also looking for advise on coursework and what type of activities or clubs I should be participating in.
