IB Applications - How can I improve ?

I've been lurking around for more than six months, and now decided to post something.
I read a lot of threads here, stories about how some of you broke into IB, and now I would get some wise pieces of advice from the community about mine, and if you guys think I could make it.
I'm a 22yo undergraduate, from a non-target french school, mostly I wasn't able to pay for a better one. I followed advanced lectures in financial analysis, valuation and everything, and got a 3,6 overall GPA.
My professional background is mostly entrepreneurial. Created my own company, which lasted two years besides my studies. Next to that I initiated a whole real estate project, managing it from A to Z, for like 4 years (takes time to find a highly profitable target). But my main bad move was during my bachelor, because I thought that as an undergraduate, applications wouldn't be successful. And realized that I was wrong, and that I should have done it much before.
However, I've been in NY for a month, between May and June, trying to network with some bankers. I got some great contacts, informational interviews to help me figure out if I would fit with the IB industry.
I really have some genuine interests about banking, despite the "bad aspects" most are describing, like hours of slavery, or competition.
After all, I didn't get that much feedback from banks, despite a lot of applications. I'm a determined guy, but started to get tired of not going anywhere.
So I wonder if I should network in a bolder way, find another type of internship to build a more finance resume, or anything else you could suggest.
What do you guys think about it ?

What types of questions are you asking bankers in the informational interviews? It's hard to tell from the info you've given, but my guess is that you haven't been direct enough about what you want: an internship/job. Did you graduate already?
Basically I’ve been asking further details about the process of recruitment, what was the best position to apply for, and so on. I also tried to emphasise on paths they’ve followed, what were the various departments they were working for, and so on. I’m quite sure that getting a full-time offer might sound a bit difficult without any previous banking experience, so I’m aiming summer internships. I’ve graduated recently with a fast-track BBA, did it in three years instead of four.
