IB as experienced hire from industry

Is it ever the case that somewhat more experienced folks enter IB from industry roles, such as corporate strategy, and if so, at what level?

I'm from a big tech/telecoms background. No MBA, passed the CFA Level 1, 3 years of corporate strategy work (building out business cases, modelling decisions, valuing internal investments, a bit of sourcing and due diligence work) and some small fry consulting and financial start up experience before that.

I have a year of no social life approaching me (my wife is waiting for a visa to get approved), want to get some high-throughput deal experience and build out some contacts in other parts of the industry. My value prop is I know what clients will care about, can put together pitch books, and can think through the true value drivers of deals.

Best approach here, or is this a big long shot?
