IB Coverage to Distressed Shops?

Hey guys, I'm joining a traditional BB industry group after graduation. I want to recruit for distressed shops such as Oaktree, APO, and the likes as I am more interested in these strategies than vanilla PE. I understand these teams recruit from Rx and generalist IB groups. What's the best way to position myself to get these interviews and succeed in them coming from an industry group once I start recruiting?
