IB in a MM boutique in Brazil looking for some guidance
Hi everyone,
I'm from Brazil and I have been an intern in a MM boutique here for the past year, while also studying Economics full time.
I have always wanted to move abroad (for personal reasons) and keep working in finance, not necessarily IB, even though I would love to.
Considering my non-traditional background I'm well aware that my chance in countries like the USA and UK where finance jobs are very sought after are slim, so I'd be more inclined to work in other European countries or Australia. I'm also a portuguese citizen so working in Europe should be ok.
I would appreciate you guidance and tips to better understand what are my odds of making it, and what my next steps should be. Should I start cold messaging professionals in LinkedIn? Should I pursue a MBA or maybe the CFA?
Thanks!
Just spitballing ideas here, but it would be an easier transition story if you got your MBA in Europe and told people during interviews that you had a desire to stay after graduation.
MBA or pretend you're a BJJ black belt and apply for an extraordinary skills visa
Brazilian here, I had some friend come to the US with L1 vida programs for a couple of years. They were at GS, MS, BAML so that might play a part. I think moelis, Rothschild or Lazard might transfer you if you can convince them. Otherwise do what most do M7 MBA, use your OPT (1yr work visa after graduation) and hope for H1B luck
