I once got what is 5 to the power of 4. Easy question. It should not take you more than 5 seconds.

IB (M&A) roles do not really have intensive math questions. (From what I have heard from my IB interested friends) Expect the probability, mental math and brain teaser questions from S&T, HFs and probably PE. Focus more on understanding and articulating the DCF, valuation methodologies (multiples, etc) and maybe the LBO.

Nevertheless, work on basic probability and mental arithmetic. It may come in handy. Goodluck!

 

If you want to make your interviewer think your rainman read "Secrets of Mental Math" by Art Benjamin.

Hung out with him once at a conference learned a few things, and his book is very easy to follow.
