IB job with not ideal GPA, great work experience, and Top 5 Canadian University

Hey,

So I will be trying to find a FT IB job come next September. I just wanted to get thoughts on how my resume would stack up. My main kryptonite is my GPA. I go to a top 5 Canadian university for business (undergrad), that from what I have heard from networking with some IB analysts, they target. I was wondering how difficult it would be to break into a BB or MM in Canada & US. As well, I have fairly good connections made from previous that could most likely get me past the resume screen. Additionally, I have a CFA Level 1, not sure how much that would help though. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hard unless you get a SA role, I know probably 95% of the new hires from Big 5/National this year were from their SA class. Almost no chance for US as grades are alot more important there and they tend to prefer their target schools.

It might be a bit easier if you were looking at a MM like Canaccord or GMP but still not very likely as banks not very eager to add more staff atm. CFA level 1 is worthless, pretty much every undergrad in finance who is competitive has it.
