IB Networking and MBA Questions
- How many people do you tend to network with when you’re an undergrad for each bank? Or do you stop at a certain point, like when you get to a MD?
- How do you update people you network with? Do you tell them if you got an internship, even if it’s not with their firm?
- How important is an MBA to IB/PE/HF? Is it more if you want to have a career change, or do you still need it if you want to progress in the same field (say analyst->associate->...->MD)?
Depth always better than breadth. Find a few analysts (preferably on your school recruiting team) and get to know them through ideally one 20-30 phone call and a few follow up emails every 4 weeks or so and one final during the start of interviews. No MD's needed usually.
Can they refer though?
Not sure who u mean by refer. MDs can refer but usually better to go through normal recruiting channels. MD referral can go a long way for non targets
