Investment Banking Summer Analyst to Private Equity Full-Time Analyst

Hello all,

I hope you find this inquiry well. I had some questions regarding the lateral process from IB to PE.

I am a junior at a top 5 undergraduate business school with a 3.5 GPA. My internship experience isn't great, and neither are my EC's, but I am working at a boutique MM investment bank in NYC this summer that is top in its sector. I was wondering what the process is like for going from a summer internship in IB to going for a full-time job in PE.

I am asking mainly because I am wondering if this is even possible for me, given that I'm not working at a "big-name" firm, and most PE firms want 2+ years of IB before you lateral. Thanks for your time.

Also interested ^ same applies to me although I'll be interning at one of (GS/MS/JPM). I assume we would have to reach out to alumni or employees at PE funds to see if they can put forward our application/refer us to headhunters. If not I guess we would have to directly get in touch with some headhunters.
