IB Still Possible?

I'm about to finish my junior year of undergrad at a non-target. I worked at a BB last summer in the BO in an informal program. I knew I wanted to try FO this summer, so this past semester I networked like crazy and got a few interviews at BB's, but nothing that was strictly IB.

I got into a formal program for juniors at a BB and will probably be placed in groups like Treasury or Strategy for this summer. It's not ideal, but it's something. Most kids from my school don't make it to BB's at all. I'll work hard to get the offer, but going in right now, I don't see myself interested in this line of work for the future after graduation.

Will these two BO internships hurt me when I try to make the move to FO for full time? I feel like they might not hurt, but they certainly don't help. I know the hours will suck in IB, but I'm willing to work hard in the first few years to hopefully make the transition to PE/HF-- tough work at first, but I'm hoping it'll be worth it down the line.

A lot of times I feel like I settle for things and am not ambitious enough, and I want to change that. So, I plan on networking a lot this summer (not many grads from my school end up in IB), but I'm hoping connections of alumni can help. I'm just not sure how easy it will be to get away from the office during the day to grab coffee, etc. Can anyone offer some advice for me going forward? I think IB is the right path, but unfortunately I won't get that experience this summer to figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any help.
