IB to GE Capital, good Pre-MBA for PE post MBA?

After an IB analyst stint, is GE Capital a decent place to land for a few pre-mba years if PE is the goal after MBA?

The role at GE Capital is underwriting, deal support, and portfolio management.

It really depends. I don't think it would be the worse choice, but it doesn't make it the best either. I know a bunch of guys that work at a $1B PEG that came out of GE Capital. I probably wouldn't be real keen on going to GE capital if I were trying to lateral to PE, but that fact that you intend to go to b-school will certainly help since you will have access to recruiting. What size PE shop are you looking at getting into and in what city?

Whichever presents the best co-investment opportunities, size/location is not my primary factor for post mba pe shops

If you aren't focused on getting into a mega fund I think it could be a good option. You have your IB experience, this will be a new environment, you will be able to build a larger network and get some different experience than what you have currently and I would think it would be beneficial to an MBA application to have GE listed as an employer and you won't be a cookie cutter IB applicant, which should help.

Hopefully someone else will weigh in on this topic and give you some better perspective.
