IB vs Consulting if I want to go into tech later?

Cross posting this from the IB forum. I have a generalist IB BB offer for NY and a software strategy consulting offer at a Big4 firm in SF. I plan to go into tech later on (I was a bit late to the tech recruiting game so I don't have tech offers rn) and I'm wondering which one would be the best one to take.

IB BB is more prestigious but the Big4 offer aligns more with software/tech.

Thoughts on this?

Is there any chance you want to do PE/HF/Corp Dev or something else in the realm of "finance"? If so, you should take the BB offer because the Big4 consulting offer will close those doors for you and if at the end of two years you decide you really do want to do tech you can still exit there from banking. If you're sure finance isn't for you then take the Big4 consulting gig and never look back. It will be an easy story to tell from tech consulting -> tech and frankly the consulting lifestyle is just better than banking. The BB will give you better exit ops in Finance but if you don't care about those exit ops then it's not worth doing IMO.
