Ibanking internship/full time job?!

Whats the best way to get an internship/full time job at i-bank? Ive been struggling to get an ibanking internship this entire year. im currently a junior right now at a private, recognized university...my grades are not too good but not to bad either, i have a cumulative 3.4 GPA im also trilingual (well i speak english and russian fluently, but know french only partially)...what are my chances?! is it an advantage knowing languages in i-banking world, or at least at the recruiting process thanks in advance

yes i go to smu. well i've been applying and applying thru our career service website called MustangTrack ( that's connected to monster) ive applied to like 8 Bulge Bracket banks and didnt even get any interviews...it just sucks. it seems that all the ibanks look at is ur GPA...i have a friend who got an awesome ibanking internship for the summer but his has like 3.9 GPA...

well not a whole year but i started this january...well 8 is simply bc that's how many i could find and thats how many Ibanks came to our campus to recruit for internships this spring...

I am transferring to SMU in fall. Well you are not being aggressive enough. You need to really work the field. Don't just go after the BB companies. I know someone who got an offer from GS with the same gpa as you and goes to a non-target school (he's a sophomore too). GPA is not the most important to them, EC and leadership can help too. I have emailed to at least 20 companies in just the past 5 days. I plan to email/call even more until I get an offer for this summer. I am even going to drop by to some of the firms' offices. I don't even care if it is unpaid (i am a sophomore by the way). You can't fear rejection.

Where are you now, presumably America? If you do speak Russian fluently I strongly advise you to apply to the London offices. And yes, 8 is not enough. However always make sure you put full effort into every application, otherwise you are just wasting your time and may as well not have bothered since the person reading it will pick up on that in a second, trust me some of the applications I got outright rejected for were pieces of crap which I had hurried as was fed up filling out forms.

Ivan:
Wouldn't knowing Russian fluently be more beneficial in applying to Russian offices, than to London ones?

No, much more Russian coverage from London on the whole, plus they pay way less in Moscow as well.
