IB/REIB/RE to PWM in Los Angeles

To be completely honest, I want to work either in Real Estate or Private Wealth Management because they are some of the more entrepreneurial & very well-paying finance-related jobs out there. I've been told that going straight into PWM is a mistake and I should build a book / get contacts through another career, but am not sure which path to follow. My current options/paths right now are Real Estate (either for a broker, luxury brokerage, or firm like Eastdil) or Investment Banking (obviously going to target Moelis, GS, MS, etc.) . I am about to start college so I feel as though it's important to start thinking about this rn to focus on getting the right internships. Planning on transferring to USC Marshall as well for the real estate finance major for what it's worth. Thanks a lot.
