Identity theft

Tried to open a new checking account day at WF and found out some bitch in California has/had stolen my SSN and opened fraudulent accounts at a credit union in 2007. Surprised me a lot-- the abuse must have started before I was even 16.

I've always been careful with giving out SSN so it sucks balls this happened. I'll probably never find out...

Anways, other than getting a credit report and reporting to the social security office any advice for me, fellow monkeys?

I know you said "other than gettin a credit report" but, I have subscribed to www.truecredit.com for years, and the one time someone (also in CA) duped my card and used it, I got a call within 20 minutes askin me if this is my transaction, they shut down all my cards and re-opened with new acct. numbers without me havin to do anything. They also paid my bank right away without even interviewing me. Its 15 bucks a month.

Another of my favorite options is that everytime an account is opened with my info or if anyone tries to run a check on me, I et immediately notified.

You were probably flagged by Chex Systems. Very different than a credit report. Typically if you screw the bank they will send you to collections after reporting you to Chex, but not always. Sometimes your credit report never gets and you wouldnt know until you go to open a new account.
