When to follow up with a recruiter after a superday?

Hi all,

I had my superday a week ago for an accelerated 2018 summer analyst role at GS. I was told by a recruiter that I'd hear back within a week at the latest. So far I've heard nothing. I know it's only been a week, but I've heard of people finding out within a day or two for certain divisions. I also noticed that on WSO another superday candidate posted his/her interview questions and said he/she didn't get the offer. What does this mean if I haven't heard back but another candidate has? I'm fairly sure we're in the same boat because we're both accelerated, NYC, August, and the same division.

I've just been a bit nervous so any input is appreciated. If I don't hear back within the next few days, would it be appropriate to follow up? Should I wait another week or two? There were only three candidates at my superday, and since we're accelerated, I'm fairly sure there's no waitlist or anything of that sort.

it depends where you rank in terms of offers. They usually send out offers pretty fast for superdays but can depend if you are a backup if someone declines but not sure how the accelerated ones work. For example, I once had a BB superday the week of Halloween but didn't get an offer until the week before Thanksgiving. Someone ahead of me probably took their full 2 weeks to think about an offer and turned it down.

This is a super delayed response so I apologize, but I guess it can serve as a reference for future accelerated candidates. I got the offer a week later via phone call! I think I was the first round of accelerated candidates (I interviewed on a Tuesday and I saw signs for superdays taking place on Thursday as well). Most other people in my division didn't begin getting interviewed until October or November.

I believe for superday decisions are usually made relatively quick, within a few days. Lateral hires can take a bit longer. I would wait until next week to contact them though.

Makes sense, this was for an Analyst role (campus hire) so it's probably either a waitlist or ding.

Who would be the best person to contact? HR was silent when I emailed them yesterday (saying let me know if there's anything I can provide). Should I email them again, or just email one of the bankers? If one of the bankers - maybe an Analyst that I met?

Decent firms will actually call after superdays to deliver the news. If it were bad news, however, you normally would receive it in either your email or a single call will be made (and the news left on the voicemail if you weren't caught). I doubt anyone would schedule a call to make sure you answer to deliver bad news, so it's GOOD NEWS!

As SenseOfUrgency said, "Congrats!" Most likely an offer.

At worst, they want to hire you but you are effectively waitlisted (still a positive thing, waitlists aren't long) or a question they want to see how you respond to.

-- I have deleted this account (or tried). If there is somehow posts still occuring, it is not from the original account holder.
