It seems like everyone wants to get into PE now. If the economy stalls, PE positions will likely be few if any. What does everyone plan to do then?

I've never planned to go into PE. I'll be safe and sound in IBD or some other corporate finance role.

Teach AP econ and coach high school baseball.

Never forget that the financial services industry always finds a way...to make money.

If PE goes bust you know what the next hot thing will be? Restructuring/bankruptcy/DIP shops.

All of the Wilbur Ross's of the world are waiting to buy overleveraged PE failures on the cheap.

Don't you worry. There will be plenty of job opportunities in Finance, in a bull or bear market.

"what is the outlook for a analyst from a bank like JPM, for each possible outcome of the economy"

Dude. Each possible outcome of the economy? You want me to run a Monte Carlo or something? This is like the modeling assignment of my nightmares.
