I was admitted to Columbia. Didn't even apply to Stern. Statistically they're similar but I think the general consensus is Columbia's a bit better. Short answer is - yes - conditional on getting into Stern, you have a solid shot at CBS. The whole thing is BS anyway. Am sure there are kids that get into CBS and rejected at Stern. So the whole thing is a crapshoot.

 

My understanding is that a lot of people compare Columbia to Kellogg and Booth. NYU is rarely mentioned as an alternative. My data set may be biased because I'm not in NYC and I'd suspect many New Yorkers would apply to both schools, but none of the folks I know applied to both NYU and Columbia.
