If you could move your job anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Inspired by my coworkers who have been camped out in places from Miami to Santa Monica since March, where would you live if you could pick anywhere in the world?

I've been pretty enamored with New Zealand lately
What is wrong with people? Who is giving posts like this MS? Seriously?
I've annoyed some people in political threads and, like the children they are, they lash out throughout the site via internet points. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I have plenty of bananas.
Just gave you some monkey shit so that you have plenty of that, too.
Damn. Got me.
your MS/SB ratio on this website is indicative of the divide in America methinks
Hah, I'm 88% positive it looks like. If only 88% percent of the country could agree on something.
Some may be pissy because of the rising comparison between the US and NZ in world media. Jacinda Ardern is getting praised quite a bit lately. Just taking a wild guess here.
I would move it to be completely mobile. staying in one place forever is not the move.
Not sure, I'd like to bounce around between the mountains and beach.
Terraformed Mars
Grinding for this view
Can you imagine if Mars (not terraformed just with colonies) got a pandemic haha
Malta and Laguna Beach, why not both?

Malta is such a hidden gem. I only spent a weekend there but absolutely fell in love with the place.
Honolulu, working from my home office overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Not working East Coast market hours. West Coast ok.
Hope to pull this off in a few years.
I knew a trading desk of about 20 people in NYC that decided that 'they didn't want to spend winter in NYC another year', so relocated to Hawaii for 6 months. Seemed like a sweet deal.
I think about how I want to take my kids boogie boarding (prelude to body boarding), snorkeling, and fishing on the weekends at my fav beaches. I feel like we’ve done everything already in SF for kids.
I have a friend who trades volatility in Hawaii. Wakes up really early.
another vote for Switzerland, specifically in the Alps
Barcelona. Good weather, good food, beautiful women, beaches, mountains, what more could you ask for? Great surrounding landscape with good proximity to other European cities.
I love Barcelona for all the reasons you highlighted. Only wish is if the ocean water could be a few degrees warmer, would be an even more awesome beach scene. I went there in July and water was a bit chilly still. I went in but didn’t want to stay in for long.
Second Barcelona. Women being the most.
This is it.
Ugh. I was supposed to be there next week
And of course FC Barcelona!
NYC / SoCal
Northern Japan in Hokkaido--live off sushi and fish and ski year-round. Plus I like cold weather much more than hot weather.
anywhere in Japan really but the north would be great. Do they have onsen up there too? That would seal the deal for me
Absolutely Hokkaido has onsen. The snow monkeys hang out in hot water pools naturally.
Although I haven’t been yet, Kyushu around Fukuoka / Kumamoto might be my spot. Only downside Japan seems to have a more hub-based air flight system so I can’t find a direct flight from Fukuoka to Shanghai (there is to HK). I like warmer weather.
I celebrated my grandfather's 80th birthday there. Place was awesome. They have great seafood and Hokkaido White chocolate is the bomb.
I was planning to go this summer with some friends as an after-grad celebration but those plans are out the window now haha
Somewhere in Japan, Vancouver, or a less crowded Amsterdam.
Como, Italy would be really nice, given the lake view, mountains, and architecture, as well as a great climate.
Buenos Aires or Medellin
An alternate version of NY where I can purchase guns. Miss being able to go to the range and shoot a decent gun that is non-NY version. In real life, probably New Zealand
Summer on the Jersey Shore, winter in Santa Monica
Anywhere in Italy - weekend trips to the South with one of the best beaches in the world, to the North to ski and just like the Barcelona post above, great food (I'd say better than Spanish cuisine), beautiful women and the unreal cultural heritage.
Bozeman, MT.
I second this. I was vacationing there a couple weeks ago and I could only imagine what it would be like to wake up every morning with beautiful scenery and my closest neighbors being 1+ miles away from me.
Surprised no one is mentioning smaller places.....wouldn't mind living in towns like Asheville, NC, Newport, RI, Santa Fe, NM, lots of options in Colorado, etc.
I'm a big fan of small but interesting towns. Small but without the backwoods hick element. There's really only a few places in the country that meet that niche.
Agreed. I would work remotely in Asheville, Portland, ME or Boulder, CO. Though honestly I could do my job from anywhere pre-COVID if I wanted to... I have chosen not to move to one of these locations because I've found there to be too much value in being in NYC from a professional standpoint.
Given that I'm trying to move into consulting from CF, I just couldn't imagine making that happen so far from a major market... hopefully I can when I am more senior in my career.
Would also add Sedona, AZ and Vancouver to this list.
I'd add San Diego and Irvine CA to that list.
I agree, my company might be opening an office in Fort Collins. If so I'm going to try to get there as soon as possible.
Tel Aviv. Best city in the world without a doubt if you have the money.
I was supposed to go there in later this year, hopefully I still can but not sure. What's there to do?
Girls are stunning there, and the food is delicious. But the locals can learn some manners man..
I was shocked by how expensive it was. We're talking NY prices sometimes for dinner.
I wouldn't say Jews are particularly known for their hospitality.
Haha! I agree about the manners and the girls. But the food? Perhaps, if you like to eat humus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
NYC. Surprising how many people are saying otherwise - are most of you really in the city due solely to your jobs? Also, is this question assuming you bring your friends/family with you?
Gimme Denver or Boulder. However, I’d never actually work for half the year...
budapest
There is actually a decent bit of IB in Budapest. I mean it's not London but quite more than I originally expected.
Italy: sun, good food, great women, cool people
Italy is a junk bond milken would make love to that indebted place
Paris or London
Vienna
Tokyo and I did get an SA offer there (rip COVID cuz now I'm stuck in the US... well at least my bank accommodated)
Out of my parent’s basement, I’m sick of this virtual WFH!
Any thoughts on Tahoe? Kind of wish I relocated there for COVID had I known in early March how much WFH I'd have.
Tahoe, I heard has a lot of real estate buyer demand. Small market so good if you own something there already.
