Why do you have to start over? Move now.

Jan 27, 2020

When I said start over I just meant location wise. Starting in a new location. Where would you go?

Jan 27, 2020

That's what I meant as well. Unlike "what school would you go to?" or "what would you study?" or "what first job would you have pursued?" you can actually change the city that you work in.

My point is that I'm not sure I'd start anywhere different, to be honest. If I cared that strongly or had that much regret, I would just move to wherever that place is now.

Ashburn, VA. Tie up the hundreds of acres that I know will eventually go data center, sell for a quick 5X and retire at 30.

Jan 27, 2020

That's interesting. Don't you think the parties that currently own that land know they're sitting on valuable real estate due to how many data centers are already there?

Jan 27, 2020

Yeah they do. I know a decent amount of developers looking at that area and have a hard time finding good land deals.

They do but nobody would've predicted the pace of price inflation over the past ~5 years and I began my career around 5 years ago. They're the asset that's seen the most growth in my personal timeline for this hypothetical.

I would probably stay in New York. Why? Last night I was out of chili powder and I was making tacos, so I walked to the deli ~60 feet from my apartment and bought some.

For a second I thought this was going to be a drug reference

Jan 29, 2020

Well on that front I can text my guy and a courier will show up to my apartment in 30 minutes with at least 3 different strains of both sativa, indica and hybrid flower, as well as many edible, tincture and oil/wax choices.

Bonus is that 9/10 the delivery person is a hot "alternative" looking woman. I expect its because women would be less scrutinized by door men.

Its its the deli chili powder that really keeps me here.

Song says it all:

Umm, LA, SF, and NY??

Where else am I going to find the deals I see in Traded NY/LA, Real Deal, or Commercial Observer?!

All about the PRESTIGE, BRO

"You see that building over there bro? I was the analyst on that shit dude. I made that deal happen"

If you rephrase the question as - what city would you choose to start in to optimize your career?

If your dream is working at a large REPE fund NYC is best just do to the pure concentration of these players.

Outside of that, your best bet is to start working in the market you want to settle down in long term as early as possible so that you can start building a track record and network.

Industrial warehouses pre-cannabis legalization in Washington state or Colorado

Could easily settle down in either of those

New York, 1799. Running deals with John Jacob Astor.
