I'm a non-target International Student Looking to break into M&A. I need advice

Hello everyone!

I'm currently a junior and athlete at Indiana Tech and I want to  break into  M&A. It is my first semester here , I transferred from another  non-target school. My GPA this semester I would say would be  somewhere between 3.0 - 3.5. I'm aware that I don't have a 4.0 GPA from Wharton and that I'm not American, but I really want to break into this industry, it's my passion. I know I'm very capable but I feel like some of the "standards" are holding me back.

I have done the DCF and Financial Statement Modeling  course from WSO, applied to more than 150 companies, sent countless emails and messages . Sometimes I get replies  along the lines of "You have an impressive resume and set of skills. Due to high competitiveness we couldn't move on with your candidacy. I encourage you to keep applying to positions in the industry. You have a bright future". Is this some BS they send to everyone?

Advice and/or tips would be super appreciated

Either you

1. Bust your ass and try to get +3.7 overall as well as GMAT and go to a good Master in Finance (MIT, Vandy etc.)

2. Try to get a job in valuation/Big 4/Consulting etc, and then do MBA to break into IB

3. Network in your home country or nearby region and break in there.

Good luck

Edit: The email you got is a generic email. Just ignore them and move on to find better opportunities or work on yourself
