Imperial MSc Finance 47Q Submit?

Hi Monkeys,

I applied for the MSc Finance program back in Feb and was put on the waiting list a few weeks ago. I have taken my gmat and got a 47Q (680 overall). I heard Imperial's program is quant oriented and anything less than a 48Q is seen as a negative. Anyone have any opinions about whether I should submit the score or not? This may move me up or down the waiting list.

I am also now awaiting decision for my second choice (AccFin) and it is a less competitive program so maybe the 47Q won't be as bad and the overall score can strengthen my app? I was unfortunately rejected by my backup today and I am in panic mode so I definitely want to at least have a great chance at the non-flagship program in case LSE and LBS goes south as well.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It's all relative. 47Q and 680 objectively aren't bad and should help your admission although it also depends on this year's cohort; if the applicants are better then it won't be as good and vice versa. Also consider how quantitative your BSc was. If you came from Maths, Finance, Economics, Physics or Engineering the GMAT score may not play as large a role because they know you have quantitative skills (provided you had a high GPA). If you came from semi-quantitative subjects such as Chemistry, Business Management or Biological Sciences then it may have a larger impact.
