Include specific companys name in resume?
Is is considered wrong to include the specific company when listing the deals you have been involved with?
For example
$100MM IPO for Google
$100MM IPO for Tech Company
Which one would be correct?
Thanks.
I always list the actual company name for the closed deals. You can use project names for deals that are pending. If you don't have many closed deals, you can list "busted" deals (codenamed) as well. I've seen this on lots of resumes from banking analysts.
if the deal's been announced (aka if you search the IPO of the company on google news shows up) it's fair game, otherwise no
Public deals should be mentioned by name. If a deal is pending, use industry.
thanks guys this will help alot
I've never used or seen project codes used for pending or discontinued deals.
You can write stuff like: "Lead left bookrunner on $100mm IPO for software company (pending)" "Exclusive financial advisor on $1bn buyside transaction for major retailer (lost 2nd round bid)" Etc.
