Incoming freshman here: freshman summer PWM internship?

Hi all,
I'm going to be a freshman at a non-target state school (Penn State, Rutgers, UConn) and I am trying to find a freshman summer internship (2021 summer). I've read that PWM internships at BB's are a great way to gain office experience and look good on your resume. What advice can give to a clueless kid like me to land a PWM internship? When should I be applying for these and how should I go about doing so? I have a decent resume prepared (granted, I don't have anything relating to college other than my intended major and school) and this past summer, I was a campaign intern for my local congressman.
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You'll probably have to intern at a low-mid level PWM firm, probably won't be able to land anything at a BB but it never hurts to try I suppose. They are relatively easy to get. I had an offer at one as a freshman coming from a CC for context. I turned it down because it was unpaid. Anyway, yeah they're alright. Can surely give you a boost.

Oh yea quick edit for some advice - just network. That's really it. Especially if there's some higher level alum from your school, you can bypass an interview entirely that way. Just find some common ground between the people you email, basic stuff.
