Incoming S&T SA in a BB

I just accepted an offer for the S&T SA position from one of the BBs in NYC. However, I found out that the return rate for s&t is quite low (about 60%). Is there anything I can do for it right now or before the SA starts? Plus, if I wanna go to HF as my exit, what product would be a good choice, e.g. fx, bond, equity derivatives, etc.?
