Incoming Strategy&: Switching from Corporate to Deals/M&A

Hi,

I'm starting as an FT Associate (the post-undergrad role) at S& in London in 2022. Although I stated a preference for the Deals/M&A team in my application, I was assigned to the Corporate Strategy team (meaning that my chances for PE recruitment went from slim to non-existent). Given that the two teams have different onboarding and training in the first month, is it possible for me to switch the teams before starting or should I wait with a 'transfer' request until I'm in the office for a bit? Does anyone have any experience with moving between Corporate and Deals within S&? Thanks!

Interesting, that's good to know! Do you happen to be familiar with the timing of their transfer (i.e. did they wait until the promotion to Senior Associate after 2 years or did it happen earlier)? Would appreciate any info
