INSEAD vs LBS for career switcher into IB
Hey guys.
I am in a dilemma. I have worked in operations:project management role for a healthcare company for 4 years and want to transition into healthcare IB in a BB.Given that I am coming from a non finance background
1. Which one - LBS or INSEAD will give me better opportunities to make that smooth transition as well as provide me with good placement in IB.
2. Insead sep vs Jan intake. Which to choose?
Goal- work in GS healthcare M&A.

I would tend to argue that LBS is better in your case, assuming you do not target French/ SEA IB roles. INSEAD is a strong consulting school and its presence in IB hubs does not really compare with LBS'. LBS on the other hand tends to have a strong set of corporate finance electives. Placement-wise, both will do a decent job through OCR, etc., but LBS will give you a leg up to network in London.

INSEAD is a wonderful school, but perhaps not the best for career switcher, even with the jan intake (sep intake should only be for sponsored students IMO) and potential for short summer internship. LBS also places better in finance and the proximity to the city is really valuable for networking (which is really expected at the associate level). I would highly recommend LBS
Agree. INSEAD sep intake is not at all suitable for a career switcher - more appropriate for some sponsored students who just want the brand. Jan intake is too short - only good thing is the internship but I find it very rushed. Hence I went ahead with LBS as my first choice. Thanks.

LBS imo is the better option yet just a reality check: barely any BB/EB still recruits for associates in London. Would argue that the MBA business schools">M7 is a much better choice. Happy to discuss in PMs, good luck!
Hey but MS, GS, BAML and Citi come to LBS for OCR. Just got it confirmed from a student. For other BB you need heavy networking. Are you a LBS student ?
They come for UG, MS/GS/Citi don't take MBAs anymore afaik. Only BAML does and the number is much lower than for summer analysts.
@ LBS MBA. MS, GS, BAML, CS & Citi all recruited this year in London, as well as houlihan lokey and a few other small boutiques.
LBS only better because of location. This would not have been a consideration 3/4 years ago but as someone stated, BB / EB OCR is more or less dead in London so ears needs to be on the ground to get a leg up on any potential opp
Otherwise, I would argue that the finance community, primarily buyside, views INSEAD more favorably.

I know some LBS alums who just did that. few of them were from consulting, technology and even law. MS, GS and Citi hires mostly.
