Insight vs Bessemer Analyst program

Can anyone provide some color on the differences between the two analyst programs in terms of analyst experience, exit opportunities, reputation, etc.. It seems that Bessemer takes fewer analysts per year (3-4) than Insight (7-8). Would be curious to know why people choose one over the other.

Insight I know for a fact has better comp. You'll also have better exits to growth equity if you choose to go that route vs pure early-stage VC. Insight also gives phantom carry on deals you source, I do not know if Bessemer does that.

Being truly long-term about this decision you should take Bessemer. Insight is a very large sourcing shop and you will get recruiter inbounds from growth equity shops but the work is frankly less interesting.

BVP is smaller and has a better culture that will allow for more mentorship. You'll be able to join incredible startups after 2 years + recruit for both early stage VC AND growth equity. The connections you build there will last you a lifetime. I'm not sure Insight has that same culture from what I've heard.

Spectrum and Insight are a tier above JMI IMHO in terms of brand, exit ops, training, etc.

I'd go Spectrum SF, Insight, Spectrum Boston, then JMI.

Bessemer is slightly different - less growth equity and more VC and I think the exit opps are more exciting and varied, but you could also go into growth and the above firms after if you want to (better pay).

Both are great places. I think insight is better for building sourcing (this is most of the job I believe) skills and general exposure while Bessemer will give you both hard and soft skills while doing sourcing and other tasks related to specific verticals. I’d be cool with either I know working inside insight is cool and the pay for the job is pretty good.
