International Finance Corp (IFC)
All,
If any of you have had previous interview experiences with the analyst position, could you please share some thoughts? I have a final found coming up in about a week. I am told that there will be an 1-hour modeling test but I don't really know what to expect. I'm not sure if an lbo model is likely since they do not exactly do buyouts - would be extremely grateful if someone could share some experiences here.
Also any general advice on the interview would be extremely helpful.
Thanks so much!
anyone please
I have seen some of their work. If i understood it correctly they fund infrastruce projects globally. The take equity stake or lend low interest loans, (sometimes grants). They usually do a full investment analsyis (DCF, EV/EBITDA, IRR, ROE, etc) and then track their investments during the cycle. They are very much a gov't investment bank. Good luck
Yes Race what you said is pretty much right.. anyone has specific interview knowledge? what time of models are generally given to be completed in 1 hour of time.
Thanks a lot
Depending on the sector, there is a lot of lending in addition to equity investments. If you're interviewing for anything to do with power, energy or mining, a lot of the work done by the IFC is project finance where the debt side would focus on cash flow modeling.

Is anyone (or does anyone know someone who is/was) an Investment Analyst at the International Finance Corporation (part of the World Bank)? I'd be interested to know how this role compares to the typical analyst role in corporate finance at an investment bank

Has anyone worked as an Investment Analyst for the IFC arm of the World Bank (or know someone who has)? Info on pay, what skills they look for, how competitive, etc would be much appreciated.
It seems like from their recruiting website they take primarily people with prior finance experience. I graduated from a top 20 undergrad with an economics major and currently work as an associate at a consulting firm involved in finance/investments (a boutique listed in the top 25 of Vault, for what that's worth). I plan on staying here for at least 2 or 3 years.
There have been great discussions on the IFC analyst positions in the past. Use the search function. Good luck!

Hey palpe, what a lonely thread. I'm here since nobody responded ...so maybe one of these discussions will help:

How prestigious is the IFC? It has a great mission, very capitalistic in its truest since, moving capital to different industries. I love the idea of what the IFC is doing. They seem to employ accomplished, well-trained wall street types. From the outside, it looks like the Goldman Sachs of underdeveloped world banking with a public/private mix. But, how intensive is it, and what are analysts developing there?
