Instant Acceptance into HBS / GSB

Been doing research on some PE firms and it's clear they all are great launch pads to top business schools due to their relations and the rigor of getting in. Berkshire Partners literally has every single one of their associates either go to HBS or GSB... How do they have such a good track record compared to other extremely prestigious firms?

A lot has to do with firm connections and priorities.

For example, some firms will give associates several weeks off to study for the gmat, pay for top-tier bschool consultants, fly in HBS/GSB admissions officers of for coffee chats, provide strong recommendations and an additional note from a partner or two with strong ties to the school, etc

Those things are real differentiators for firms like Berkshire, Bain Cap, Oaktree, etc. Berkshire falls in line with a lot of those pretty elite PE firms that fall into the UMM bucket, but get overlooked sometimes because they’re not an Oaktree/KKR/Apollo

Yeah I was referring to exits from Oaktree. Not sure about post-mba placement into the firm. But I know those that choose to leave from some groups at Oak (e.g special sits) place extremely well into b school

Not sure of many MM’s that fall into this bucket outside of Berkshire, CD&R, etc. But most MF’s that have historically been set on 2 and out programs (I.e carlyle) have endless b school resources
