Institute for Finance
Hey guys,
I just completed my first weekend of Institute for Finance and I wanted to share some of my experiences. Thus far, it offers legit training and experience to what bankers really do (less the all nighters and screaming MD) and the instruction is superb:
I was one of the Bear IBD interns who got their offer rescinded and I was offered the opportunity to attend the class and seeing that I may not obtain that applicable experience this summer, I figured it was something I could not pass up.
The class: Upon arriving I was handed a huge binder with all the instruction materials ranging from valuation techniques (comps, previous transactions, DCF) to interview and recruiting tips (the binder's materials are worth its weight and gold). There are intricate models the instructor gives you (blank and filled in so you can check your work)and this weekend we went over comps, precedent transactions and began our DCF. We went through the models building them together, and for homework there are other comps we can do to practice. Next week we will go over how to analyze everything and build our DCF model from scratch.
My summary is not comprehensive and does a disservice in trying to explain how valuable I feel this course is. I would recommend it to any aspiring banker or financier and having seen my friends Wall Street Prep Materials, this blows it away as they are way more comprehensive.
Isnt it also 3x the price of WSP? Not exactly apples to apples...
I agree with junkbondswap. This program would compare better with in-person training programs, like The Analyst Exchange (what WSO has been advertising).
