What I’ve seen is salary around $200k with total comp of $300-800k. Some break a million in good years. Some firms pay basis points on new assets while others pay a discretionary bonus. Lifestyle is good. Hours aren’t bad but will involve a lot of travel. Most firms are broken up into two groups. One covers direct clients (pensions, endowments) and the other covers consultants.

This report is a few years old but gives you a good idea on the industry and comp.

That normally depends on the strategy. Your shop may be charging only 20bps on a vanilla fixed income strategy while it’s charging 100bps on a Small cap EM strategy. The allocation to fixed income will also be much larger so it evens out. What you’re paid will be based on your annual goal so it varies based on how large your territory is.
