Institutional Sales Pay?

What could an Institutional Salesperson expect to take home during the hay-day of Institutional Sales vs what they’re typically taking home now? From what I read on different forums it seems as though it’s a line of that’s slowly dying out and a shell of its former self(not my words).

Can't answer on what pay is, but I will say that I do not think it is dying, or will ever die. Why? Because unlike some aspects of trading, which can easily be automated, sales will never be automated, because AI doesn't have the human emotion that is needed when welling to institutions.

Today you can earn 500k plus in senior roles (think 10-15 years). That should be enough for you given that the job can get very cushy compared to banking or trading.

Sure. There are directors who make 500k in sales with 15 years experience in 2019, but I’m talking about 15 years from now in 2035 i doubt sales will be paid as well. the trend is very very clear. Spreads are much tighter, clients are less active, and generally trades are done in comp much more often and jsut the best price is traded. The number of sales seats is shrinking and every 6 months for the past few years at the bank i was at there were rounds of cuts at the vp/director level, where they’re replaced with analysts. Now I’m on the buy side and i see how useless most sales are, and mostly trade on who has the best price.
