Hi everyone. I'm currently interviewing for a few pre-MBA PE opportunities at top global megafunds and upper middle market firms. The positions are in emerging market locations (think China, Brazil, Singapore, South Africa, etc) with very small classes (~3 associates per office). My goal is to work in the US at a mega fund, but since the main on cycle 2019 process has come and gone and I come from a consulting background, those opportunities are not plentiful.
My question is for those of you who work at funds with multiple offices internationally: assuming visas/immigration are not an issue and you are a top performer, are there actual, regular opportunities to transfer to US/European offices at some point even for a short term period? Is this something you have done or seen others do? Or am I setting myself up to get stuck halfway across the planet for all eternity? Anything from a permanent transfer after year 2 of the associate program to a 3 month stint some time during the two years would be interesting to hear about.
Thanks in advance!
