Interdisciplinary / Hybrid Roles

What does WSO think of people with Hybrid skills? Saw a profile recently of someone who had gained experience across a few industries and wanted to know what people think of such profiles.

Case in point: c. 2 years in IB/M&A (not sure but looks like generalist) from a variety of long term internships and full time stuff, development/product experience within financial services/markets, consulting (long term internship) and finally the person being a FAANG employee in LDN (Product role). Academic background: CompSci/Statistics/Mathematics at a Top 3 UK university.

What is WSO’s opinion on such profiles and whether they set you feel these may set one up for good (long term opps)? In comparison, my seemingly vanilla experience in IB + Finance major may not translate as well for breadth of opps and also future proofing which is what made me think...? Is there more room for inter-disciplinary professionals going forward? Or is this just wayward? Could such a professional later on pivot towards early stage investing/incubators of tech firms? Or possibly even advising PE firms?

The questions are basically me thinking out loud - just want to see how the optionality of opportunities for such a professional compares to say, someone like me (2-3 years in M&A, generalist, finance background through and through).
