Interesting Transactions & Alliances

Hi guys!

I suggest to do a list of interesting transactions and alliances that have occurred during theses years! (2005-2010 would be a good period)
So when we have and interview and get the typical question "tell me about a transaction that you have liked" we will have different options!

Let me start!

Iberia & BA (This year)

Really interesting operation with strong strategical vision! We will have to wait to see what happens but it seems that this operation (that have been "in the air" for years!) is gonna create one of the leading players in the airline sector.

Let's keep the list growing!

If you go to the acquiring company's press release about the acquisition, there will generally be a few bullet points addressed by the CEO/CFO/appropriate executive regarding the transaction, rationale, integration, opportunities, etc. Generally speaking, reading and regurgitating those will suffice for the "why" regarding this interview question. These releases are freely available at www.sec.gov under the appropriate company or on the company's website.

People chuckled at your initial post because there is no rationale there. All you say is you think the combination could create a leading airline. Why? What makes you think that? There's no substance. Not to mention you use the word "strategical." You need to have something backing up your assumptions.

Hey JimbrowngoU, thanks for the tip. However, I was playing around with the sec database and seems like different companies have distinct codes for the press releases. Is there any quick and dirty way of findings these statements in the sec website?

Thanks
