International MBB vs Boutique PE

I'm currently a sophomore at a low/semi target (think Berkeley, Northwestern, Cornell level), I have 2 offers for a sophomore year internship. One is an MBB internship in Africa and the other is a tiny boutique PE firm in the US. I've already done a PWM internship at a BB. What do you think would set me up best for junior year IB recruitment?

Going to echo everyone else's comments about taking the MBB internship. I interned abroad for 6 months in Asia and I'm pretty much the golden child now for the program that I'm in at school because companies can't get enough of that experience. Just think, most people have no international experience besides traveling. Of the ones that have experience actually living in another country, ~90+% of them are kids that study abroad. Of the very few students that have actual work experience abroad, almost all of them (in the US at least) worked in NA, Europe, or Australia. Very few people can say that not only did they intern at an MBB, but they did it while adapting to a completely different country, and exposing themselves to a new and challenging (i.e. not Anglo / European) culture.

You're already ahead of the curve by having great options lined up after freshman year. What would the specific role be at McKinsey? If it's actually a consulting role that could be a great experience and obviously a great brand name. While less directly relevant to IB, I think there could be a lot to talk about. If you think the experience you'll get at the PE shop is strong (e.g. getting some technical experience, working with smart people who have done banking stints) that could be worthwhile as well. Really, you cannot go wrong though.
