Internship choice, MC at Big Four or IB at foreign firm?

Hi Monkeys,

I recently got two offers for a month of internship, one from one of the Big Four management consulting teams (tech & strategy) and another one from a top 20 securities firm in China which may give me some experience in IPO and M&A and equity research, but is probably unknown to most bankers in the West.

My goal is to apply for an intern position at one BB in Australia or Hong Kong (IBD) right after the internships mentioned above.

My background is an actuarial major at a target, and I have both management consulting (at that Big Four) and finance (Fintech and corporate banking at small firms) experiences.

Would love your advice in terms of which offer would be preferred in IB.

Thank you in advance.

What's the long-term FT goal? IB in China? Then take the securities firm as it'll be known in that market. Seeing as you then want to apply to BBs in HK, this seems like a good choice.

If you want to pivot to Europe/US then it's tricky. On one hand, you could say the finance experience will be more useful for BB vs MC but on the other, the finance experience will come from a (most likely) unknown firm and Big 4 is a household name.
