Internship Fair, is argyle sweater ok to wear?

hey guys im new to the site. there will be a "mini" career expo tomorrow in my school and i plan on applying to several internships.

now i had a friend who attended an event held by UBS and he was informed to wear business casual, which he did during the event. however, it turns out that everyone else wore jackets and were in suits.

so i called my career center and they said that business casual is preferred. im thinking of wearing an argyle sweater over a shirt and a tie. the sweater is dark grey.

will that be fine? im really no in the mood to wear a jacket or dress too serious.. so will argyle sweater be a good substitute for a suit?

thanks guys

Every company presentation I went to on campus was advertised at business casual and 95% of the soon to be applicants who showed up were wearing sloppy oversized suits and ties way past their belts. I always went with well-fitted slacks and a charcoal blazer, button-down shirt and no tie. If everything fits well you're already ahead of the game. There was no way I was putting on a suit at 6 pm so I could sit through a 45 minute powerpoint with info I could have gotten off the website. I felt like I was dressed more appropriately than the rest of junior-prom-ish crowd.

All that being said, what you wear to the presentation won't really matter. Worry more about the interview. Check out the threat in this forum about buying your first suit. Everyone had good advice there.
