This is probably a stupid question but what is a fall internship schedule like? either full time or part time. Just trying to look ahead and plan classes so i can apply for one. Thanks.

I have a good friend who did one, it was part time and they worked with him to schedule it around his classes. If you're planning classes I would try to leave some significant blocks of time open (my friend had no class after noon on MWF, that's when he worked)
yea you need to have enough time to work at least 4 hour shifts, so with tranportation you need a 5 hour block. most people schedule classes in monring and work in afternoon or vise versa. also many students dont have classes on fridays and work all day then. most employers realize you are students first, and work around your schedule/let you take time off during finals. usually fall interns dont get a huge amount of responsiblitiy so the bosses are pretty chill with you.
When I did it, I had class all day into the evening Monday and Wendesday, and worked full shifts T, TH and F (with some weekend work sometimes). It's one of those things where employers, at least on the surface, will understand that you have classes to take, and are ready for that when they look for school semester interns. That said, I would ether structure my schedule to have all of my classes 2 days per week (or nearly all with like 1 class M/W mornings and the rest on T/TH, for example) or take all morning classes. I would also try to have at least one day be class free (again, not necessary depending on the position, but adviseable), especially if this is an IB internship, which can 1) be demanding and 2) you want to have time to spend there to learn and gain some valuable experience.

How many hours/week do you typically work at a fall internship?
20 hours minimum
There is a good chance you will not be staffed on a deal. You will just get random little projects to do. When shit needs to get done, the last thing a MD wants to hear is that you have a paper or studying to do. Guaranteed way not to get staffed on a meaningful project again. If you really want to get the most out of this internship, you will be spending at least 20 hours in the office and 20-60 hours working from your apt/dorm. The days you have off from class, plan on being in the office. The days you do have class, be prepared to be working from your apt/dorm when not in class.
This is all from personal experience. If you just want this to be a few lines on your resume, do the bare minimum hours they ask. If you want to gain meaningful experience, follow what I suggested.
not true. i had a fall internship at a BB and worked 16 hrs a week. and it was not a bs internship to have 'a few lines on my resume.' you can still have meaningful projects working this much a week. this internship, and the others i've had, my bosses were pretty chill when it came to school work, as long as i gave advanced notice and got my work shit done on time. from what i've heard from friends this is the norm.
It varies based on the boutique and their need. I worked like 30 or so on average. One of my friends who landed a similar IB gig at a boutique worked like 20.

How do you go about getting these internships during the school year? Do you just contact all the nearby boutiques and see if they any openings available? Do any BB in the major cities (NY, Boston, LA, SF, etc.) have a fall / spring internship? Thanks.
BBs usually don't. Aim for boutiques. Check out Craiglist, Efinancialcareers, your school's career web site, etc. Then reach out to boutiques in your area - Google for advisory shops, P/E shops, boutique IBs, etc. Depending on your location, it may be difficult to find many options, but if you are in a major city, you should absolutely start searching the pages and sending emails/making phone calls.
