Internship Help Needed

I am currently a rising sophomore at a semi-target majoring in finance and I'm trying to figure out what I need to do between now and this time next year to give myself the best shot at getting an SA position at a BB. This summer I interned at a PE firm for a month and I'm currently interning at a global law firm in the M&A/PE division (both offices are located in Hong Kong). I'm currently reading the Vault Career Guide to IB and I plan on moving over to the Interview Guide once I'm finished. My understanding of financial modeling is limited, but I learned some useful financial analysis skills at my PE internship. Additionally, I have a good handle on networking, gaining a lot of my knowledge from seniors in my fraternity who recently left for IB.

My questions are:

- Should I learn VBA, purchase a course on modeling, or do a course for Excel before I apply for an internship for next summer?
- What other skills should I try to acquire before applying for an SA position during my junior year?
- Is it imperative that I have an IB internship next year, or am I fine as long as the internship is finance related?
- Does location matter for next year's internship? It would be easiest to get an internship in the Midwest since I go to school in St. Louis, but I ultimately want to end up in New York.

All and any advice would be appreciated as I know so many on this forum have already gone through this.

Thanks
