Internship oppurtunities

I am going to be a sophomore at USC majoring in Electrical engineering and minoring in Management Consulting. Realistically where can I get consulting related internship for the summer after sophomore year ?

What companies should I look at and what kind of gpa is considered a "cut off"?

Also I am willing to move.

How do you minor in management consulting?

this.

but to respond to your request, I believe Deloitte Consulting and Accenture both opportunities for rising juniors in the summer in consulting. I've seen people leverage these to get internships and full time positions with Tier 2 and MBB as well. otherwise, any internships that can get some brand name (e.g. F500) on your resume are usually a good bet.

As for GPA, generally above a 3.8 is ideal, above 3.7 is probably alright, and above a 3.5 is kinda a must for most well known firms. Search the forum or go read Management Consulted for answers to more simple questions like that.

I just looked up the course requirements for USC's minor in mgmt consulting:

COURSE REQUIREMENTS UNITS BUAD 304 Leading Organizations 4 MOR 462 Management Consulting 4

Electives Choose three courses from the following (12 units): IOM 455 Project Management 4 MOR 421 Social and Ethical Issues in Business 4 MOR 461 Design of Effective Organizations 4 MOR 463 Organization Change and Development 4 MOR 465 Advanced Methods in Strategy Analysis 4 MOR 469 Negotiation and Persuasion 4 MOR 473 Designing and Leading Teams 4

That's really, really funny. It sounds like the fluffiest piece of nonsense I've seen from a school in a long time.

I haven't taken a class for this minor yet so I don't know how it would help, but according to your experience do you think the minor would help my chances or am I better at doing a minor in Mathematical finance which consists of taking a few econ classes and a couple of finance and valuation classes?

Also, an F500 internship isn't really enough. It needs to be like an F50 internship, more realistically. Probably even better than that, esp for someone coming from a decent but not top school like USC. Maybe an internship at the LA office of one of the investment banks just to get the name on your resume. Something like that. The few people I met at welcome weekend that were undergraduates at USC-like schools had previous internships at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley and a couple had internships at econ consulting firms.

First, I sure hope to God you will write and spell better on your resume and cover letter. Second, USC places well within their network, but no one else thinks nearly as highly of them than they do of themselves. You see a lot more ucla undergrads and mbas in ibd and at MBB or tier 2 than usc. Ping the network. That is your best shot. I personally do not know any USC folks at my firm so you aren't looking at many.

Thank you guys for your input!

I know that USC isn't a target school and so I don't have high expectations but I just want to try to get a basic internship next summer so I can use that as a resume builder. Besides alumni, any specific places/companies that I definitely should check out?
