internship/training for swing trading career?

Undergrad junior here, I know that a S&T internship at a BB bank should be number one priority, but where else should I look? I don't have the capital for prop trading now, but there has to be firms like the equivalent of boutique IBs except for trading instead out there, right? Or wrong? Just curious what else is out there other than IBs and prop firms that will prepare me for a career in trading.

Also, what is the typical/suggested career arc for a trader? Once out of school, start at a prop firm and work your way up, then maybe open up your own shop, then finally just trade out of your personal account alone? Does that sound like a viable path or am I off base? I appreciate any input.
