Interview prep partners

Wondering if anyone else out there is hitting the PE recruiting circuit and interested in prepping with other analysts?

I'm a 3rd year analyst in LevFin at a global bank trying to prepare for PE interviews as much as possible. Problem is I'm competing directly with most of my peers at my current bank where I'm at so don't particularly want to prep with them and I've always done better working in teams, so figure it would be a good way to leverage a different prep methods and perspectives to be as strong as well prepared as possible.

I'm a 3rd year LevFin analyst likely with more modeling experience than any other 3rd year you'll see by virtue of having my LevFIn group turned into a restructuring group until about a year ago. Mainly worked on busted LBOs and I've been a regular on the PE recruiting circuit so I've gotten a pretty good feel for what they're expecting and how to best prepare. I've interviewed at a few of the mega funds and 1 top MM and a few others so far. I think I have a pretty good idea of things I need to work on, but I'd do much better with 1, maybe 2 people I can prepare with... by prepare I mean share general experiences, interview experience, mock interview each other and discuss our deal experience in depth.

I've found most of the people I can actually discuss this stuff with are my direct competition and the ones I'm not competing with (a) have no concept of how competitive/demanding it is and (b) don't have a good idea of what interviewers are looking for/what types of questions to ask.

Only people already in banking and waist deep in the recruiting process. Shoot me a PM if interested.

This is shameless self-promotion, but you could always get a mock interview with one of the mentors. It would be valuable to connect with a mentor that actually conducts the interviews, so you can get a candid critique with no feedback loop. Given your background, Anuj would be a great mentor:

Anuj currently is a Vice President at American Capital, Ltd., an $11 billion publicly traded global asset manager based in Washington D.C. He focuses on special situations investing and is responsible for evaluating, negotiating and structuring debt and control equity investment opportunities across a variety of industries and asset classes. Anuj also spends a considerable amount of time executing financial restructurings and M&A assignments for American Capital’s existing portfolio.

Previously Anuj was an Associate at Evercore Partners in the Restructuring Advisory Group where he advised debtors and creditors on restructuring transactions both in and out of chapter 11 bankruptcy. Anuj started his career at UBS Los Angeles as an analyst in its Investment Banking Group. While receiving a dual degree from Northwestern University (JD/MBA), he interned at Prudential Capital Group, a senior debt and mezzanine provider, as well as Skadden Arps.

Anyways, just wanted to get that plug in there. Good luck with the process.

Did take a look at that and seems pretty useful to some people but to be completely honest I just wouldn't spend the money on it. I can get it for free from a handful of people I know that work in PE that would mock interview me. Not trying to be a dick but figure honest feedback is more useful to you. I can see the value in your service for someone who doesn't know people in the industry willing to provide your same service for free... obviously favors are only free the first time around, if that.

I'm looking more for someone I can prepare with regularly to study interview prep stuff. Every once in a while I do hit up one of my contacts, but I prefer to use them more sparingly and usually when I feel like I'm rock solid and ready to go.. then they give me feedback and I've got additional stuff to work on.
