interview success rate?
just curious what most ppl's normal success rate is for interviews
for standard analyst / associate / trader roles at established firms, what is a normal interview success rate for a normal, qualified candidate?
For instance, if you have 10 phone interviews, or 20 on-campus interviews, or if you are flown out (paid for by the company) for 5 job interviews, how many should you reasonably expect to get offers from?
i realize this is a difficult question to answer since it varies depending on every candidate, but what have your experiences all been?
I think the success is different for GS /MS vs CS/DB/UBS etc. for the latter group I've heard first round they pick around 200 applicants, then around
Depends on individual and there is luck as well as very competitive industry, even the no name boutiques since they only hire a few.
For strategy consulting firms it's normally offers for 1% or 2% of all those who applied. I am not sure how self-selected the applicant pool is so that may distort your probability if you are a 'target candidate'. For PE recruiting it's normally 1 offer per 15 candidates (according to my recruiter -- I am looking at mid-market shops), and the candidate pool for that is very selected indeed (majority BB M&A bankers or MBB consultants, minority MM M&A, BB other IBD and second tier strategy houses).
this is really a ridiculous question. If you are good at interviewing, it could be 100%. If you only look good on paper, it could be 0%.
yeah no std answer to this ques; but if you're all very good on the d day, let's say the best 10 percent of applicants will be accepted
Firm’s intake is also going to be heavily influenced by the economic conditions at a given time, so is not going to be a consistent ratio from year to year.
As everyone is stating, the rate is highly variable. I went to a non target and only got three interviews at investment banks. I converted all of them into superdays and two into offers. However, I didn't get past the first round with some of the F500's that came through OCR. It all depends. If you want specific data points there are some other threads that you could search for.
