Interviews During the Holidays
I had an initial interview last week for a capital markets role. Should I be concerned if I don't hear back this week or next? I know everyone is busy around the holidays, but are firms putting recruiting on hold until the new year, or should I hear back?
Bmp
This seems pretty straightforward:
if they gave you a timeline, then you should have a rough idea of next steps, including the timing for each.
if they have not, then reach back out to HR/your recruiter and politely/briefly reaffirm your interest in the role and ask for a timeline.
That seems fair. They didn't provide a timeline, and was essentially an initial phone screen. What they told me was that they would forward my information onto the hiring manager, and they would reach out.
With that said, I wasn't sure if it would be smart to wait until after Christmas, or if I should be following up with the person who did my phone screen this week. With the holidays (at least with my current job) nobody at the firm would bother to reach out and set up an interview this week... or probably even next.
Same boat as you. Although my interview was mid last week and was told I'd get a follow up the next day. Didnt hear anything so sent the MD an email yesterday and will hear back after NY.
Sit tight until after the NY and if you dont hear anything afterwards I'd follow up. Good luck!
Thanks Kiwi! I appreciate the insight. That is kind of what I figured, but also didn't want to let the opportunity pass without following up/reaffirming my interest. However, I also didn't want to bother people around Christmas. Tough time to be interviewing!
Yea it is tough. I've been off and on since mid October and just want to get a damn offer. Keep grinding!
