Invest in apartment or stocks/bonds

Would it better to buy an apartment in NYC for an investment, selling it a few years later (at a higher price?). Or would it be better to instead take that money and invest it in stocks/bonds, etc?

Thanks!

property yields are not high enough to be able to call a bottom to the real estate downturn.

stocks can provide some protection from the erosive nature of inflation but you have to pick carefully given the economic slowdown that is happening. If you don't know what you are doing then go for a basket of higher yielding bonds in defensive areas. You may not make up the shortfall of inflation but on a relative basis (which is what all wealth is) you'll be streets ahead.
