InvestBank Corp Phone Interview

Hi Guys,

I reached out to a bunch of local investment banks and one of them ("InvestBank Corp"), offered me a phone interview. In my initial email to them, I relayed what I felt was pertinent information/qualifications about me: "Learned the basics of Excel, accounting, valuation, etc. I have also independently learned Python, SQL, MATLAB, and passed the SIE exam".

In the email, he said that he was impressed with my resume and skills. So now I'm wondering about a couple things. He (the Executive Chairman of the bank) had the email forwarded to him by the recruiting person, and he told me I could directly call him on the day and at the time of my scheduled phone interview....is it common to talk directly to the CEO of a bank?? Is this because this is more of a boutique-like bank? Has anyone heard of this particular bank before? Along with branches in San Diego, they apparently have a global presence. I'm just making sure it isn't some sort of scam.

And finally, are there any quick tips you can provide to me for a phone interview? Will he be testing me on financial concepts over the phone? I passed the SIE last summer so although I still remember basic info about different investment products, I'm not sure if I can recall all the little tidbits of information that he might try to throw my way. But in that case, is it OK just to say that I don't remember but if needed, I can look things up if I don't understand just to refresh my memory? After all, anyone these days can just google a financial concept and use a source like investopedia to brush up on any unfamiliar concepts. Also, do you think he would ask anything about the technical side, like python, sql or Matlab questions?? To me, this seems like a fundamental analysis type of bank rather than like an algo-focused hedge fund or something so is there any point to reviewing technicals?

My phone interview is scheduled for Monday so I dont have too much time to review absolutely EVERYTHING on my resume. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
